April 5 Deadline to order school swag April 6 Regular school day April 10 PM kindergarten students attend April 24 Professional Learning Day – no school for all students Message from Mme BrookeMindful Eating at Lunchtime- Sharing our Process and Requesting your SupportAt Varsity Acres School, we are committed to fostering mindful eating practices at lunchtime, as research shows this supports students’ physical health, social-emotional development, and overall well-being while also creating a calmer, cleaner, and more supportive lunch environment. When students eat mindfully, they are better able to recognize hunger and fullness cues, make thoughtful food choices, build self-awareness and positive relationships, and contribute to a respectful and caring atmosphere; these are benefits that also allow supervisors to better support individual needs. We would greatly appreciate your support in reinforcing these practices at home by encouraging positive conversation skills and mindful eating habits with your child. This looks like eating slowly instead of rushing, pausing to observe how food smells, looks and tastes, staying seated and quiet during eating times and engaging in pro-social conversation with peers.
