Physical Education at Varsity Acres School is committed to providing students with meaningful, engaging movement experiences that support their physical, social, and emotional development. From Kindergarten through Grade 5, students participate in a well-rounded program that encourages active living, builds essential motor skills, and promotes a positive relationship with physical activity.

Our program offers a wide variety of learning opportunities, including:

  • Fundamental skill development through units focused on throwing and catching, strategy games, target games, and more.
  • Cooperative games that strengthen teamwork, communication, and problem-solving.
  • Outdoor and seasonal activities that take advantage of Calgary’s unique climate and community spaces.
  • Movement literacy experiences that develop balance, coordination, agility, strength, and spatial awareness.
  • Inclusive and responsive instruction designed to support each student’s abilities, confidence, and individual growth.
  • Specialized residencies and enriched experiences that give students opportunities to learn from experts and try new activities, including swimming, skiing/snowboarding, speed skating, inline skating, tennis, dance, and curling.

We strive to cultivate sportsmanship, perseverance, collaboration, and joy in movement, ensuring all students feel capable, supported, and successful in physical activity. PE at Varsity Acres is a place where students explore new skills, challenge themselves, and build foundations for lifelong health and well-being.
