Some upcoming events at Varsity Acres School to share:

Pink Shirt Day is observed annually in Canada on the last Wednesday of February. We invite students and staff to wear pink on Pink Shirt Day- Wednesday, February 25, 2026. Wearing pink is a visible symbol of support for kindness, inclusion, anti-bullying and respect for others.

Our annual Winter Carnaval: Olympics Edition will take place March 2-5, 2026. There are lots of opportunities to volunteer throughout the week and be a part of the fun! Carnaval will Prior to Carnaval week, students will enjoy a performance from Folklofolie, a traditional franco-Canadian musical duo who engage our student audience through songs, dancing, and the chance to interact with instruments.

Please watch for volunteer opportunities over the course of our Carnaval week so that you can get involved and join this winter festival celebration! Fingers crossed for a bit more snow!

WANTED: Blocks of Ice for Carnaval "Édition Olympique"

This year, Varsity Acres School looks forward to celebrating Carnaval "Édition Olympique" from March 2 to March 6. As a part of this traditional winter festival, our school community has always come together to construct an ice sculpture. To celebrate the unifying spirit of the 2026 Winter Olympics, we will construct the Olympic Rings. Yay! For this exciting project to succeed, students will need to freeze blocks of ice at home and transport them to school on March 5. There is no limit to how many blocks of ice a student may bring, just what is feasible for them to carry to school.

When freezing ice blocks, please refer to the attached instructions to ensure we have enough of each colour to construct the Olympic rings. Please also consider:

  • how much space you will need inside your freezer(s) to ensure the 2L paper carton(s) stands upright.
  • freezing a 2L paper carton full of water could take as long as three days. THREE days!
  • ice expands... Science RULES!

We look forward to seeing students collaborate on what will surely be a memorable homage to the spirt of both Carnaval and the Olympics.

Thank you for supporting your child and our Winter Carnaval "Édition Olympique" festivities!
