URGENT CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS!We need around 10 more volunteers to fulfill our casino requirements. The roles and times will be listed below, and you don't have to be a parent to volunteer! Send us your grandparents, aunties and uncles, cousins, bestie! They just need to be 18 years or older, no police clearance required. Our parent volunteers are such an amazing group and we pride ourselves on coming together when needed most. This is the moment, we really need your creativity to fill these last few spots. Our final plea - you get a great meal, we're at the airport casino and it's fun! CLICK HERE to volunteer.
Message from Mme BrookeWe've had a cold week and our students are eager to get outdoors again! We do hope the snow holds for some fun winter activities for Carnaval during our first week of March. Join our School Council meeting on Tuesday, February 24 at 6:30 pm, either in person or online. Principals from our middle schools, Branton and F. E. Osborne, will join virtually to support the grade 5 transition and speak about their schools. Agenda to come next week. Movie Night! If you missed the message last week, don't miss it this week! WANTED: Blocks of Ice for Carnaval "Édition Olympique"To celebrate the unifying spirit of both the 2026 Winter Olympics and our own Carnaval "Édition Olympique", we will construct the Olympic Rings from home-made blocks of ice. For this exciting project to succeed, students will need to freeze blocks of ice at home and transport them to school on Thursday, March 5. There is no limit to how many blocks of ice a student may bring, just what is feasible for them to carry to school. When freezing ice blocks, please refer to the instructions (link below)to ensure we have enough of each colour to construct the Olympic rings. Please also consider: -how much space you will need inside your freezer(s) to ensure the 2L paper carton(s) stands upright. -freezing a 2L paper carton full of water could take as long as three days. THREE days! -ice expands... Science RULES! We look forward to seeing students collaborate on what will surely be a memorable homage to the spirt of both Carnaval and the Olympics. Thank you for supporting your child and our Winter Carnaval "Édition Olympique" festivities! ~2026 VAS Carnaval Committee Olympic Rings Ice Block Freezing Instructions revised.pdf
