Toys and Pokémon Cards - Not Permitted at School

Your child’s teacher wants to support students to be focused on and engaged in learning tasks. Toys and trinkets from home, including Pokémon cards, are a distraction to learning during the school day; these items cause conflicts between students and often get lost.  Toys, trinkets and Pokémon cards are not permitted at school or in the classroom.

Please be aware that these items will be removed from students, and parents will be expected to come to school to collect them for their child. All our classrooms have centres to support learning through play, strategies, tools, books and self-regulation spaces. Students on an IPP requiring specialized strategies to support learning and well-being will continue to be supported to use tools in place of toys/cards in the classroom. If you have questions, specific to your child, please reach out to their teacher to discuss. Thank you for your support and partnership.

Yearbooks

We are still waiting for the yearbook fee to be activated in our fee system.  We will send out updated communication when the fee is available for parents.  We appreciate your patience as we wait for this to be resolved.

Lunchtime Message in Lunch Kits

Recently, we have notice that a numbers of students are requesting additional food from their lunch supervisor after finishing their lunch. We want to support all students in feeling full after lunch time in preparation for an afternoon of learning. We acknowledge that all students and families are experiencing a variety of circumstances relating to food and we have sought to learn more about this and support by including a food insecurity survey link in our weekly message. If your child requests an additional snack to supplement their lunch, the lunch supervisor will send home the below notice in your child’s lunch kit to make you aware that they have received one. Thank you for your support and partnership. You are welcome to reach out to the office with any questions of concerns.

Lunch note:

Dear parents,

We want to let you know that your child expressed they were still hungry after finishing their lunch today. The lunchroom supervisor has provided them with a Kellogg's Nutri-Grain Bar. There are many possible contributing factors to their increased hunger, they could include: growth spurts, children's food preferences and the effects of weather on their expended energy. If you do not wish for us to provide a snack to your child in the future, please let us know. Thank you.

If you are dealing with food insecurity, please complete this survey to let us know of your child's need:
