Election
Varsity Acres School is a Federal Election site. This includes advanced polling from Friday, April 18- Monday, April 21 (non-instructional days), as well as Election Day on Monday, April 28, 2025.
All students of Varsity Acres School will not be able to use the main doors on Monday, April 28, 2025. Please make arrangements to enter the school building via the Courtyard B doors. The main doors of the building are for voters accessing the gym to vote in the Federal Election. All students who are late to school or who need to be picked up early, should come to the Courtyard B doors to ring the door bell, enter the school and come directly to the office.
We appreciate your assistance with this change in support of the Federal Election. Elections Canada has measures in place to keep the public away from students and school proceedings while students are in the building.
Please reach out to Mme Brooke at brreilly@cbe.ab.ca if you have any questions.

Program Monitoring- Requesting Parent and Guardian Input
This year, Varsity Acres School is engaging in a pilot program relating to our French Immersion program, a portion of which includes the deployment of this survey. The purpose of this Program Monitoring survey is to help inform the school about stakeholder perspectives, with a goal of developing some actions that we can undertake. Ultimately, we hope to further strengthen the quality of our French Immersion program, and further improve outcomes for all Varsity Acres School students. Data will be analyzed by a focus group, where an action plan will be developed and subsequently shared with our school community.
Personal information is collected under section 33(c) of Alberta’s FOIP Act and is subject to the privacy sections of the FOIP Act. Survey responses will be used only for the purpose stated in the survey and anonymity will be protected when sharing survey results. If you have any questions about the collection and use of survey information, you can contact Varsity Acres School’s Principal, Brooke Reilly, at brreilly@cbe.ab.ca or 403-777-6090.

DELF A1 exam
This month, our Grade 5 students proudly completed their DELF A1 exam—marking our school’s very first year of participation! It was a tremendous success, and our students truly shone. The exam not only gave them a chance to showcase their growing confidence in French, but also provided valuable opportunities to strengthen their listening and conversational skills through focused preparation. Bravo à tous nos élèves! We are incredibly proud of your hard work, dedication, and achievements. Félicitations!
Partners in Learning - Respectful, Ongoing & Effective Communication
We want to ensure that parents and guardians always feel welcome to reach out and communicate with the school. As partners in support of your child(ren) and their education, we welcome respectful dialogue about your child’s academic achievement, social-emotional well-being, and any inquiries you may have regarding process and policy at VAS and within the CBE.
Communication about your child begins in the classroom by reaching out to the classroom teacher. This is the most direct way to connect about your child's schooling. Mme Brooke and Mme Courtney are available to provide support as required. Formal communication occurs 4 times per year: report cards in January and June, parent conferences in November and March. However, parents and guardians are always welcome to email, call or meet with teachers and administration to collaborate, inquire and connect.
In all communication between school and families, all individuals should be treated with dignity and respect in every form of communication, whether in person, over the phone, or via email. We have a common goal to ensure your child is successful. Thank you for your thoughtful communication and for contributing to a welcoming, caring, safe, and respectful working and learning environment for all.
Support Positive Learning Environments at Varsity Acres School
Teachers regularly go over the Code of Conduct with their students during classroom meetings in order to set everyone up for success. Check out this helpful Administrative Regulation in kid-friendly language.
A great way to have conversations about this document is to go to the checklists on the final two pages under the headings: Welcoming, Caring, Respectful, Safe. Ask your child to come up with examples of each point and what that looks like in their classroom, school and in the community.
