Youth Singers Concert

Thank you to our student performers, the Youth Singers of Calgary, and Mme Forbes for a wonderful evening of song and movement to kick off the winter season. Thank you parents and guardians for attending and bringing your energy. Thanks to volunteers who helped with sign in, set up and take down. Financial support from VASPFS, our Parent Fundraising Society, made this residency for grade 3-5 students possible, at no additional cost to families. This spring, kindergarten to grade 2 students will host a unique celebration of learning connected to Indigenous ways of knowing, focused on acknowledging the land. Details to come in the spring.

Did you know? Grade 1-5 Assemblies at VAS

We want to support all students in having welcoming, caring, respectful, safe and inclusive behaviour at school, on the bus and with adults and peers in the building. Last week, Mme Brooke and Mme Courtney held grade level assemblies to review expectations. Please ask your child(ren) about:

  • Personal responsibility (recess equipment, lost and found)
  • Listening and responding to all adults in the building, using manners
  • Using break times and washrooms appropriately
  • Safe play while outdoors
  • Problem-solving using our ‘Panneau de Resolution’ (Stop Sign Poster)

This year, we will continue to share what we are doing in class and at school to establish, maintain and reinforce positive and pro-social behaviours for our VAS community. Outdoor Learning Committee (OLC)

As our playground infrastructure ages, we are starting to think about a multi-year plan to design and fundraise for a new structure.
