Next Year School Designation

Grade 5 Transition to Middle School Timeline

  • For students in grade 5, the school will register students at their designated French Immersion middle school for grade 6.  No action is needed from families.
  • Principals from Branton and F.E. Osborne French Immersion middle schools, will visit the grade 5 classrooms on January 24.  As well, each school will host an Open House, for families, in the new year.  We will share the Open House invitations with the relevant families in January.
  • The Principals of Branton and FEO will attend the VASC School Council meeting March 11, 2025.  Parents and guardians are encouraged to attend.
  • In the spring, the grade 5 students will go to their designated middle school to view the school and meet their next year teachers.

Kindergarten to Grade 4

  • Students in kindergarten through to grade 4 will automatically be registered at Varsity Acres for next year.  In the new year, we will send an Intent to Return form for you to share your plans for next year, either stay or move to a different school.

Student Event Fees

This year the CBE changed the way event fees are reimbursed.  If the school prepays for students to attend, and will not receive a reimbursement from the service provider, e.g. Calgary Zoo or Teachers Pet for students who did not participate, then the fee is considered non-refundable.  The parent letter, for each on-site or off-site activity, will indicate if some or all of the fee is non-refundable.

There are many events where VASPFS, the fundraising arm of School Council, covers bussing or pays the full event.  We are grateful for their, and your support of their fundraising activities.  So far, some of this year’s funded initiatives have been:

  • Yellow Steps Residency
  • Youth Singers of Calgary residency and concert
  • Bussing and a portion of the event for the Calgary Philharmonic field trip (Babar) and the kindergarten visit
  • Soft seating furniture for the Learning Commons
  • Various student resources

Gymnastics

Dear Parent(s) and Guardian(s),

In January 2025, your child will be participating in our gymnastics unit. Please review the following letter (Gymanstics - Parent Letter 2025.pdf) that entails the progression of skills and safety items you should be aware of. In particular, please review the expectations regarding appropriate apparel.
