VAS Annual Pumpkin Patch Event - champs de citrouilles
It is time to get "spooktacular"!
Monday, October 28
Join us for this fun VAS tradition
Each student is invited to carve or decorate a pumpkin and place it in our pumpkin patch on the side lawn of Valiant Drive by 7:55 am on Monday, October 30th. Students who are dropped off can place their pumpkins directly on the lawn and those on the bus can walk directly to Valiant Dr. where Mme Ireland will be able to assist between 7:40 – 7:55 am. All students must be in their classroom at 8:00 am for attendance, so please ensure you are arriving before the bell to place your pumpkin. Anyone arriving after the entry bell should bring their pumpkin directly to their classroom, and teachers will make arrangements to get pumpkins out to the patch before the viewing parade.
Please look for your classroom teacher’s cone and sign, and place your pumpkin around it on the side lawn of Valiant Dr. before 7:55 am. Signs will be out by 7:40 am, but it will be dark so please consult the map (which will be shared next week)with your classroom teacher’s placement location.
Classes will visit the Pumpkin Patch with their teacher throughout the day.
At the end of the day, students must collect their pumpkins and take them home.
Teachers will ensure bus students have an opportunity to collect their pumpkin prior to dismissal.
A few important reminders leading up to Pumpkin Patch Day:
Do not leave your pumpkin outdoors before bringing it to school on October 28, as it will likely freeze overnight and then “melt” as the temperatures warm up over the course of the day. This saves a lot of tears and disappointment.
If you take the bus, ensure your pumpkin is easy to carry on and off the bus.
It will still be dark outside in the morning when you drop off your pumpkin, so if you like, you can include a battery operated “tea light” to light up your pumpkin for better viewing. They can be easily found at any dollar store.
Do not use a real candle with a flame!
Lost and Found
The items have been packed up and will be delivered to Goodwill next week. Any items with a student’s name have been returned to the student. Please label all of your child’s clothing, lunch bags and water bottles and pack relevant cutlery in their lunch kits.
Inline Skating
Thank you to the numerous parents who have volunteered to help with our Alien Inline Residency. Your help means our students have more time to practice their skills, rather than waiting for their protective equipment and roller blades to be double-checked and fitted.
That being said, we still have many classes without parent volunteers. Please do not assume your class does! If you have the time to support, your presence would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to email Mr. David (dapakosh@cbe.ab.ca) if you have questions regarding your child's inline skating schedule and your interest in volunteering.
