Message from Mme BrookeTeacher FarewellsMichelle Forbes, our music teacher, has accepted a music position at Eugene Coste School next school year. Michelle has led the VAS Music program over the past four years, bringing in artists like Chantal Chagnon and residencies like the Youth Singers of Calgary, as well as holding music shares for students to showcase their talents to peers and parents. I would like to thank Michelle for her work with students in class and around the school to support their growth in music and languages. Our best wishes to you, Mme Forbes! Shana Jolin, a long-time Varsity Acres and CBE teacher, is retiring at the end of this school year. After 30 years of teaching French Immersion, Shana has touched the lives of countless students and families through her dedication, kindness, humour, and passion for learning. Her commitment to French language education and to building strong relationships within our school community has left a lasting impact. We thank Mme Jolin and give our congratulations on a remarkable career! I want to sincerely thank Mme Sara Whyte and Mme Sarah Valji, two temporary contract teachers who have provided our students and school with a tremendous amount of support and stability in grade 3 this school year. We appreciate your work on the grade 3 team and your dedication to the culture and learning at VAS.
Bienvenue! Welcome!I'd like to officially welcome Mme Isabelle Lemieux and Mme Amamatou Nkap to grade 3 for the 2026-27 school year. I'm also pleased to share that Mme Lyna Zamani (currently on a temporary contract) will remain at Varsity Acres and is moving to the grade 5 team.
A VASPFS "Thank You"Thank you to the Varsity Acres School Parent Fundraising Society for their work on several fundraisers this year including Purdy's Chocolates, Plants and a very successful Casino! Funds raised by VASPFS go towards lowering costs for families on field trips and residencies, equipment (music, physical education, furniture), resource materials and supplies (classroom books and magazine subscriptions), events like Carnaval, sports day and grade 5 Farewell, and fees support for families. Physical EducationDear VAS Parents and Guardians, Thank you to all of the parents who volunteered to support our Indigenous Peoples ReconciliACTIVE Day. This special event brought together VAS’ love of sport, nature, and movement with opportunities to recognize and celebrate the cultures, histories, and contributions of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Peoples. Your willingness to volunteer is yet another reflection of the strong and supportive community that helps make Varsity Acres School such a wonderful place to learn and grow. A huge thank you to our administrative assistant, Kelly McSweeney, and members of our school lunch team, Alyssa and Jonny, who procured materials and healthy snacks for our students! Thank you to all teachers who collapsed their schedules and ran stations for all students across multiple grade-levels! Your flexibility and commitment to our entire student population is greatly appreciated. Kind regards, The Grade 1 Team and M. David
