Staffing Update

We have bittersweet news to share about Mme Teri Broome, one of our Secretaries at Varsity Acres School. Teri has accepted an Administrative Secretary position at Sunnyside School beginning Monday, May 4, 2026. While we are sad to see Mme Teri go, we are thrilled for this next step in her CBE career and very grateful for all that she has brought to VAS. Merci Mme Teri for your work ethic, organization, care and kindness, and for knowing and supporting our families and staff inside out! You will be missed!

Michelle Forbes, Music teacher, is on a leave of absence. Currently, Leonard Cohen is teaching music classes until Mme Forbes' return. We appreciate M. Cohen's support and collaboration.

Playground Committee – Seeking New Members!

Calling all grant writers and fundraisers- we need you! Varsity Acres School is preparing for a year of fundraising to replace our aging playground, and we’re looking for enthusiastic parents and guardians to help bring this vision to life. We are especially seeking volunteers with grant-writing or fundraising experience, or those who are eager to learn and contribute.

The next scheduled meeting is on Friday, May 22 at noon in person at the school with Mme Brooke, principal. If you cannot attend in-person, we will send you a Teams link so you can join virtually. Please email Mme Brooke at brreilly@cbe.ab.ca if you would like to attend either of these dates.

Fees Statements - Outstanding Book Fees

We wanted to share that the fee statements which were sent home did not have recent outstanding book fees.  Those fees will be added at the end of this month.  Please take this opportunity to review the login process below to see if your child/ren have any outstanding books so they can be returned before the fees are applied.

Physical Education

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Spring is here! With (hopefully) more consistent weather, we’re excited to take advantage of our partnership with Varsity Community Centre and use their tennis courts.

From May 4 to May 21, students’ regularly scheduled PE classes will take place outdoors. Please review the information below to help ensure your child is prepared and able to participate fully.

What students need on their tennis lesson days:

  • Athletic outdoor running shoes (no sandals, flip-flops, Crocs, or rubber boots)
  • A water bottle (labelled with your child’s name)
  • A sun hat and sunscreen
  • A tennis racket (optional – we have plenty available to share)

Thank you!
